My filmmaking approach is inspired by the patient observation of direct cinema and the intimate immersion of vérité style. Through character-driven narratives exploring resilience, innovation and cultural identity, I focus on stories connected to climate action, conservation, sustainable living practices and the preservation of human skills and wisdom.

My agile, run-and-gun approach is about maximum involvement, minimum intrusion, enabling me to quietly capture nuance and lived experience, rather than staged interviews, technical set-ups or reconstructions. I want to keep an audience informed and engaged as events unfold, while leaving space for reflection and a sense of revelation.

Audio plays an important role in the immersive, emotional texture of my work, anchoring the stories to the cultural and geographical contexts in which they live. I like to build a soundscape or soundtrack directly from filming locations and also collaborate with musicians involved in the story.

After 5 years as a filmmaker and mentor for a Tasmania-based NGO, I embarked on my freelance journey. Since 2023, alongside producer and story editor Tom Ansell, I have directed, filmed and edited two independent short documentaries, including award-winning Abraham’s Garden. I recently completed my first independent feature-length documentary, Sak Kha Lai, filmed over three years in northern Thailand.

I am currently seeking funding to direct and film a behind-the-scenes documentary in specific regions of Africa, India, Myanmar, Indonesia and Thailand. In collaboration with the Jane Goodall institute and Studio Sebastião Salgado, it is a back door into a 25-year global environmental investigation carried out by a natural history photographer and a conservation journalist, revealing the raw truths behind wildlife trafficking, the destruction of ecosystems and the threat of zoonotic pandemics. We are aiming to begin production in mid 2026.
